Monster Truck Mania
Six Monster Trucks will headline the Octane Fest Jamboree at the fairgrounds June 11. Time Flys, Fired Up and El Perro Loco, three of the top Monster Trucks on the circuit today, will crush, pound, and roar in amazing demonstrations of raw power and size. Two mini monster trucks and a ride monster truck will also be on hand. Free monster truck rides will be offered when the gates open at 6 p.m. and the first 500 kids will receive a free monster truck toy. The Monster Trucks are sponsored in part by the Northern Nevada Dealers Association, one of Octane Fest’s main contributors.



Truck and Tractor Pull
Dragster Tractors and Hot Rod 4×4 Truck Pulling featuring the 5,800 and 7,200 pound Modified Tractor classes and Super Stock 4×4 Trucks will do the heavy lifting at the Octane Fest Truck and Tractor Pull. Classes for local street 4×4 trucks will also be offered, carrying on the tradition of local participation that Octane Fest has featured since its inception. The pull is sponsored by Stockman’s Casino.



Freestyle Motocross Jumpers are skilled daredevils
Octane Fest will showcase the daring jumps of two of the top competitors on the motocross jump circuit today. Freestyle riders Jeff Griffin and Garrett Ahlf have competed for world titles and X Games medals and are sure to thrill the crowd with breathtaking, ramp to ramp jumps featuring 360 degree back flips. The freestyle MX jump show is sponsored by the Fallon Nugget and Bonanza Casinos/Super 8 Motel.



Free Pit Party
All of the jamboree performers and their vehicles will be available and on display when the gates open at 6 p.m. for autographs and photos. This “Pit Party” is a great way for fans to get up close to the Monster Trucks and high powered pulling tractors and hot rods that will be performing in the evening’s show. Kids and adults alike will be awestruck at the craftsmanship and power of the high-octane machinery. The pit party is sponsored by CC Communications



RatFest Rumble
The Downtown Merchants Association will host a rat rod car show on Maine St. as part of the Octane Fest celebration. The show called the “RatFest Rumble” is free and features music, cars, and a Miss Octane Fest Pinup Girl contest. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 11.



Eagles host “Wheels for Meals” poker run
The Fallon Order of the Eagles will host a poker run to benefit the local “Meals on Wheels” program that feeds senior citizens and other in the local community who are in need. Called “Wheels for Meals,” the poker run registration goes from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Eagles Hall on the Reno Hwy on Saturday, June 11. The cost is $10 per entry and $5 for additional hands and will offer a course for motorcycles and one for off-road vehicles. Coffee and donuts will be served in the morning followed by the “All-American hotdog and hamburger feed” in the afternoon. Prizes include cash and tickets to the Octane Fest jamboree. Ironman dirt track challenge at Rattlesnake Raceway
More than 80 cars are expected in Fallon for the first leg of the Ironman Challenge at Rattlesnake Raceway June 9-10. Pro modifieds will compete on a circuit that will take racers to dirt tracks in Fallon, Lovelock, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, and culminating at the Great Basin Raceway in Ely, Nevada. Racers will be racing for cash as well as track, tour, state, regional and national IMCA points. This is the first year of the Ironman Challenge sponsored by the Evenson Law Office. Tickets are just $10 at the gate, $8 for military and seniors. Kids 5 and under are free.



Lucas Oil Series Drags at Top Gun Raceway
More that 400 NHRA hot rods are expected for one of the biggest drag races on the west coast: the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Top Gun Raceway, June 10-12. Blown Alcohol Funny Cars, Comp Eliminators, muscle cars, and a Supercharged Top Alcohol jet car race toping speeds of 250 mph will burn up one of the best drag strips in the west. Friday is testing, Saturday is qualifying and Sunday is finals eliminations with diesel and gas trucks in between. Nothing exemplifies Octane Fest like Top Gun Raceway and the supercharged excitement at the track. Tickets are $10 adults and include a pit pass. Kids 5 and under are free. Tickets are available at the gate along with senior and military discounts. Testing on Friday starts at noon, with Saturday and Sunday action beginning at 8:00 a.m. The jet car drag race takes place at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
